FPL Gameweek 7 – Captain Picks

FPL Gameweek 7 – Captain Picks

After a midweek round of Champions League fixtures, the deadline for Gameweek 8 of this season’s FPL is looming large and we at TSZ have put together a lost of our most attractive captain picks for the latest round of Premier League fixtures. We’ve earmarked three choices popular with the community, alongside a differential option who could give FPL managers an edge.

Popular Options

Erling Haaland (£15.6m) vs IPS (H)

Only a few days since playing against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Erling Haaland (£15.6m) has to be seen as a big rotation risk ahead of Gameweek 7. If the Norwegian striker does start though, his potential points ceiling is huge and anyone who doesn’t captain him will be firmly behind the sofa for Man City’s home clash with Ipswich Town.

Haaland’s goal against Liverpool in Gameweek 6 was his sixth of the season in the Premier League and he has now scored at least once in every league fixture so far for Man City since the opening weekend. He’s also racked up a minimum score of six points across each of the last five gameweeks, including a 13-point-haul in Gameweek 2 vs Crystal Palace.

Joao Pedro (£7.8m) vs EVE (a)

Having been passed fit and named from the start by Xabi Alonso on Gameweek 6, Joao Pedro (£7.8m) delivered for all those FPL bosses who kept the faith and had him in their line-ups. Chelsea’s Brazilian forward was on the scoresheet twice as the Blues thrashed Bournemouth 5-1 at Stamford Bridge, earning him a total score 12 FPL points for the second time in the space of three gameweeks.

With five goals, three assists and 45 FPL points so far this campaign, only Joao Pedro has the same number of points recorded as Haaland among forwards. With three double-figure hauls to his name, plenty of FPL bosses should be eying up Joao Pedro for the armband in Gameweek 7 as Chelsea travel to Everton.

Rayan Cherki (£7.8m) vs IPS (H)

Now owned by over 30% of FPL managers, the best way to capitalise on having Rayan Cherki (£7.8m) in your squad is to captain him. When it comes to midfielders, only Brighton’s Pascal Gross boasts more points than Cherki following the Frenchman’s goal and ten-point-haul away to Liverpool this past Sunday, making it 18 points gained in his last two Premier League appearances.

Like Haaland, Cherki is at risk of rotation against Ipswich as Man City Enzo Maresca looks to navigate a busy period that includes Champions League football. But with four goals, two assists and 44 points since the start of the season, naming Cherki your Gameweek 7 skipper may be worth the gamble when considering his recent FPL production.

Differential Pick

Mohamed Belloumi (£5.2m) vs FUL (a)

Fulham are struggling right now under Alvaro Arbeloa, losing four of their first six league games and sit bottom of the Premier League on just two points with ten goals conceded. Hull City arrive at Craven Cottage in Gameweek 7 looking to take advantage of their opponents’ recent struggles and a red-hot Mohamed Belloumi (£5.2m) poses a significant attacking threat in particular.

Belloumi came off the bench to register what was his fourth attacking return in the last three gameweeks this past weekend with a goal against Everton, enough to get him six FPL points. He’s now picked up 23 points since the start of Gameweek 4 and is yet to score lower than four points in an away fixture. Form is firmly in his favour, as is the fixture and when it comes to differential captains, midfielder Belloumi stands out more than most.
