Two of the most premium and most proven FPL assets come under the radar as we weigh up whether FPL managers should buy either Mohamed Salah (£14.5m) or Erling Haaland (£14.0m) ahead of Gameweek 1.

Both Salah and Haaland are consistent FPL scorers and certainly justify their respective high price-tags. Salah is coming off the back of a historical campaign, racking up an incredible 344 FPL points, including 29 goals and 18 assists in the Premier League alone. Of those 344 points, 55 of those came through bonus points. Questions will be asked over whether this sort of production is sustainable for another season, but every time FPL bosses write Salah off, the Liverpool superstar comes back to bite them.
As for Haaland, he may not have proven as productive in this latest campaign, but his numbers were still very good. The Norwegian striker scored 22 league goals for Man City, although he only managed three assists. Haaland ended the season with 181 FPL points in 2,736 minutes of action, over 600 minutes less than Salah.
Whilst Haaland remains Man City’s main attacking threat, the additions of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike has a chance of potentially reducing Salah’s output. But the fact remains that Salah remains the gold standard of FPL and going against him could prove utterly disastrous.
Verdict: Mohamed Salah (£14.5m)
