Joao Fonseca vs Jenson Brooksby prediction
Joao Fonseca produced a strong performance on his Wimbledon main draw debut to defeat British number two Jacob Fearnley in straight sets. The Brazilian benefitted from a very poor serving performance from Fearnley, who committed 10 double faults. Nevertheless, Fonseca was the more measured player throughout and thoroughly deserved the victory.
He has another tough test in round two as he takes on Jenson Brooksby. Brooksby defeated Tallon Griekspoor 6-2 7-5 6-3. Griekspoor was heading into the tournament having just won the Mallorca Championships last week, but he was largely dominated by Brooksby. The American is in good form having made the Eastbourne Open final as a lucky loser in his previous event. He held off a Griekspoor fightback at the beginning of a second set and raced ahead in the third to win.
Both players are coming off the back of very strong first-round wins. Fonseca produced an excellent serving performance in round one and may have the edge if he can replicate it against Brooksby.
