Jan-Lennard Struff achieved one of his best wins of the season so far as he beat former quarter-finalist and 25th seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in the second-round. The German has struggled for form this season but is now in round three of Wimbledon for the fourth time overall and the second time in succession. He recovered from going a set down to win 3-6 7-6 6-3 6-4.
He will face defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in the next round. The Spaniard put in an improved display in the second-round as he beat British qualifier Oliver Tarvet 6-1 6-4 6-4. Alcaraz was still broken on two occasions and gave up 12 break point opportunities, but he made less errors in comparison to his first-round match against Fabio Fognini. He extended his unbeaten run to 20 matches overall and 16 at the All England Club.
Alcaraz leads the head-to-head 3-1 and 1-0 on grass. He beat Struff in five sets in the first-round of Wimbledon three years ago. The five-time Grand Slam champion has gone strength to strength on the surface since then and will be a heavy favourite to win in straight sets.
