India vs Afghanistan prediction

Whilst spin-friendly conditions would give Afghanistan a glimmer of hope, it’s safe to say that India will be expected to dominate them across all departments over the course of this one-off Test match. Even despite the lack of Jasprit Bumrah, it’s still a strong India squad that’s been named with Shubman Gill as captain. Rishabh Pant is in and he’ll be looking for a big outing whilst there are plenty of spin-bowling options.

Realistically, Afghanistan’s batting is at a significant level below India and should be exposed as the pitch ages over the course of five days. Even if India were to lose the toss, there is still enough of a gulf in quality for them to overcome that and control the vast majority of the test. Any outcome other than an India win would be a big shock.
