Iga Swiatek vs Clara Tauson prediction
Iga Swiatek continued her progress at Wimbledon as she beat Danielle Collins 6-2 6-3 to reach the round-of-16. It was a very impressive performance from the Pole, as she wasn’t broken and won 83% of her first serve points. She made her first grass court final last week at the Bad Homburg Open and has six wins from her seven matches on the surface this season.
She now faces Clara Tauson as she seeks a place in the quarter-finals of the event for just the second time in her career. Tauson dumped 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina out of the tournament last time out as she edged a tight first set tiebreak before dominating the second to win 7-6 6-2.
This will be their first meeting on grass and at Grand Slam level, but they’ve played each other once before. Swiatek came from a set down to defeat Tauson 6-7 6-2 6-1 in the third-round of Indian Wells in 2022. Tauson’s brilliant performance in the previous round does show that she could push Swiatek all the way. Nevertheless, the five-time Grand Slam winner is enjoying a strong run of form on the grass and will be the favourite to advance.
