A last-ditch mega money move before the close of last summer’s transfer window wasn’t the easiest and smoothest start to a season for Nick Woltemade - and that has proven to have brought about some issues. The former Stuttgart man, who shone at last summer’s UEFA U21 European Championship, showed flashes of quality in the early stages of his Newcastle United career but, with Eddie Howe seemingly not entirely sure on how best to use the versatile attacker, it was generally underwhelming across the campaign. That said, he did show flashes of what he can do and the ceiling remains high for the Magpies forward and, as he heads into a first ever major international tournament, finding confidence under Julian Nagelsmann could well help him thrive again this summer, albeit he will likely begin the tournament as an understudy to Kai Havertz in the final third.
