Now 41, Schalke striker Edin Dzeko remains the captain and star name in the Bosnia and Herzegovina squad as they head into their second ever FIFA World Cup, 12 years on from when Dzeko captained them in Brazil. His country’s all-time top scorer, Dzeko remained key in qualification under the management of former captain Sergej Barbarez and, having helped Schalke gain promotion back to the Bundesliga last season, remains someone for other teams to be wary of.
