THE PREDICTION

We have one of the more intriguing draws in this competition taking place at the Johann Cruyff Arena on Thursday afternoon as a Jordan Henderson-captained Ajax welcome Aston Villa to Amsterdam. Ajax won their first game with Henderson in the side at the weekend as they defeated Utrecht by two goals to nil but they have significantly underperformed this season, sitting fifth in the Eredivisie and only just squeezed into this stage of the UEFA Europa Conference League with a fortunate extra-time win over Bodo/Glimt. Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are chasing a top four finish in the Premier League but they will want to add another European trophy to the cabinet. Prestige, heritage and history of course plays a part but, quite frankly, Villa are a better side than Ajax and should win both legs of this Round of 16 tie.

TIP: ASTON VILLA TO WIN
