The top five European leagues in the UEFA Champions League

Spain is the most successful nation in terms of entrants into the UEFA Champions League. The Spaniards head a list of the other nations deemed to be the ‘top five’ in Europe with England, Germany, Italy and France behind them.

Spain did not have an entrant in the first competition in the 1992/93 season but have dominated since with 104 total entrants across 30 seasons with 12 titles to show for it. England are not too far behind with 100 (six titles) but there is a sizeable gap to Germany with 91 entrants (four titles).

Italy and France trail in terms of number of entrants with the Italians coming in one behind the Germans but do have one more title to their name with five while the French are a long way back with 71 entrants and just one title. However, Italy and France are the only two nations that can boast at least one entrant in every season of the UCL dating back to its inception in 1992.
