Jaime Munguia: WBA champion looking to build momentum
WBA champion Jaime Munguia (46-2) returns to the ring for his second fight of 2026, and he will be looking to put on an impressive show in Saudi Arabia.
The 30-year-old Mexican is coming off consecutive wins and will be looking to ramp up his activity once again. After four fights in 2024, in which he suffered the first two losses of his career against Canelo Alvarez and Bruno Surace, Munguia has had only two fights since, and he will be keen to get some momentum back into his career.
Nikita Zon: Unbeaten Russian fighting outside his homeland for the first time
Nikita Zon (9-0-1) is fighting outside Russia for the first time in his career, but he comes with good pedigree, having scored seven knockouts in his nine wins.
This is the first time he has fought a scheduled 12-rounder, having never previously gone beyond eight rounds in any of his 10 fights.
The 32-year-old looked impressive on the scales on Friday, but it will be interesting to see how he measures up on fight night against a fighter as talented and experienced as Munguia.
Jaime Munguia vs Nikita Zon prediction
On paper, this bout looks very much like a mismatch in Munguia’s favour, as he takes on a relative unknown in Zon.
Zon has an unblemished professional record, but he has not faced any real quality opponents and has never had a professional fight outside Russia.
The bookmakers have Munguia as a huge favourite, and it is easy to see why. Zon looks the part, but it seems unlikely that he can handle Munguia’s relentless intensity, power and speed.
Barring complacency, we fully expect Munguia to get the win and stop Zon inside the distance.
Prediction: Jaime Munguia to win by stoppage
