Real Sociedad come into this one on the back of a slender 1-0 defeat at home to heavily rotated Real Madrid side in their most recent outing in the Basque Country, last weekend. In that game at the Anoeta, Turkish starlet Arda Guler notched a 29th minute winner to continue La Real’s fairly underwhelming second-half to the season.
It has very much been a case of history repeating itself with Real Sociedad’s intense style of football being undermined by a lack of fitness and general fatigue in the second-half of the campaign. Imanol Aguacil’s side have managed just four victories in their last 16 matches across all competitions since the middle of January.
LAS PALMAS
Under the management of former Barcelona youth coach Garcia Pimienta, Las Palmas have enjoyed a generally impressive campaign with an easy on the eye style of football, following promotion to La Liga last season. The Canary Islanders, often known as ‘the Brazilians of Spanish football’ have drifted into the bottom-half of the table.
The visitors come into this one on the back of a 2-0 defeat at home to Girona in their most recent outing, last weekend, with David Lopez and Artem Dovbyk scoring the goals for Girona. That was Las Palmas’ sixth successive Liga defeat and they are now nine without a win since pretty much securing safety back in mid-February.

Both of these sides started exceptionally well but have had their season goals ripped away in the last few months. Real Sociedad were knocked out in both the UEFA Champions League and the Copa del Rey and they have also drifted away from the top four.
