THE LOWDOWN

RAYO VALLECANO

At the start of this season, Rayo Vallecano lost their manager Andoni Iraola to AFC Bournemouth as well as first-teamers such as Alejandro Catena, Fran Garcia and Santi Comesana. They, though, started really well under the management of Francisco but that underwhelming appointment eventually became what many expected and a major disappointment.

With the capital city club sinking down La Liga, they decided to part company with Francisco and appointed Andoni Iraola’s former assistant, 33-year-old Inigo Perez. He also began well but Rayo have majorly drifted and now find themselves firmly in La Liga’s relegation battle, sitting six points above the drop zone.

GRANADA

One team that would be desperate to be in Rayo Vallecano’s underwhelming but still safe position would be Granada. Jose Ramon Sandoval’s Andalusians were relegated at the weekend as a result of Real Mallorca’s slender 1-0 defeat of Las Palmas in Palma de Mallorca and that opened the way for lots of fairly aggressive and loud supporter protests.

However, performances had improved under Sandoval until the last couple of matches. They had collected seven points from three games before being hammered 3-0 by regional rivals Sevilla and then losing 4-0 at home to the champions Real Madrid at the weekend with goals from Fran Garcia and Arda Guler as well as a Brahim Diaz brace.

THE TEAM NEWS

RAYO VALLECANO

GRANADA

Relegated Granada will be dealing with just one injury issues as they travel north to Vallecas in the capital as attacker Antonio Puertas remains unavailable.

PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Batalla; Mendez, Miguel Angel, Miquel, Neva; Pellistri, Ruiz, Gerard Gumbau, Jozwiak; Boye, Arezo

UNAVAILABLE:

QUESTIONABLE: Puertas (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Both of these sides were expected to struggle and battle against the drop this season and that has been the case. If Cadiz can get three points against Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in midweek then Rayo Vallecano will be under immense pressure heading into the final couple of weeks. However, up against a relegated Granada that have now finally capitulated, Rayo should surely get over the line, especially with the advantage of playing at Vallecas.

TIP: RAYO VALLECANO TO WIN & UNDER 3.5 GOALS
