THE LOWDOWN

MALLORCA

Javier Aguirre’s usually reactive and pragmatic style of football is coming under a bit of pressure now with the home team having managed just one victory in their opening 13 La Liga matches. They begin the weekend sitting just outside of the bottom three and the relegation places but very much in the dogfight down at the bottom-of-the-table.

They were edged out by a goal to nil against Atletico Madrid at the weekend with a second-half strike from Antoine Griezmann. They have now failed to score in each of their last four Liga games and only one team in the entire division have managed to notch fewer than the 12 they have managed so far this season.

CADIZ

The one team that has scored fewer goals than Mallorca are their upcoming opponents, Cadiz. The Andalusians have managed to net just ten goals in their 13 games so far this season and the visitors come into this on the back of a 3-0 hammering at the hands of Real Madrid in their most recent outing, at the weekend.

They have managed to score in just one of their last five matches themselves and their aforementioned 3-0 defeat to Madrid are now winless in nine matches since they defeated Villarreal by three goals to one in early September. They begin the weekend sitting a point and a place above Mallorca in the table.

THE TEAM NEWS

MALLORCA

Real Mallorca’s only injury issue for this weekend remains their key striker, Vedat Muriqi, who is unavailable for the hosts as he was at the weekend.

PREDICTED XI (5-4-1): Rajkovic; Gonzalez, Valjent, Nastasic, Copete, Lato; Sanchez, Darder, Costa, Rodriguez; Abdon

UNAVAILABLE: Muriqi (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

CADIZ

Cadiz are missing several key players for this weekend’s trip to the Balearic Islands with Gonzalo Escalante out injured, whilst Luis Hernandez and Fede are doubts.

PREDICTED XI (5-4-1): Ledesma; Zaldua, Chust, Fali, J.Hernandez, Pires; Navarro, Alex, Alcaraz, Ramos; Roger

UNAVAILABLE: Escalante (Injured), Kouame (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Hernandez (Injured), Fede (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

These are two of the weaker sides in La Liga and they both come into this one on the back of some really poor form. The two teams have managed to combine for just 22 goals in their 13 matches so far this season and with both teams somehow still just outside of the bottom three, it would appear an excellent chance for them to inexplicably build up some space from the danger zone. Regardless of who comes out on top, a low-scoring encounter with under 2.5 goals would appear inevitable for this one.

BETTING TIP: UNDER 2.5 GOALS
