GETAFE PREVIEW: PUSHING FOR TOP-HALF

In his second stint in charge at the Coliseum, Jose Bordalas has once again got Getafe punching above their weight and if results go their way this weekend then they will finish the season sitting in the top-half of La Liga. The capital city club have been their typically aggressive selves under Bordalas but the style of football has at least been slightly more entertaining.

For example, their 37 matches so far this season have consisted of 93 goals but their own specific form has dropped off a cliff in the final few months. They come into this one on the back of a 1-0 loss in the Basque Country against Deportivo Alaves, extending their current losing streak to four matches in Spain.

MALLORCA PREVIEW: SAFE & SOUND

Reports in Spain this week suggest that Osasuna boss Jago Arrasate will soon replace Mexican manager Javier Aguirre in charge of Real Mallorca. Aguirre has done what he was brought to the Balearic Islands to do, which was ensure they remain in the top-flight, but things have majorly stagnated in the last year or so.

After the sale of Lee Kang-in, things were a little difficult at the start of this season and it has turned out that they are only heading into the final day secure of their spot in next season’s Liga due to the incompetence of Cadiz. Aguirre will leave proudly, though, having secured top-flight status and leading Mallorca to the final of the Copa del Rey last month.

GETAFE TEAM NEWS: MORIBA OUT SUSPENDED

Former Barcelona man Ilaix Moriba is out suspended alongside former Bournemouth defender Diego Rico and Juanmi Latasa, whilst Juan Iglesias and defender Domingos Duarte are missing through injury. Luis Milla is also a doubt for Getafe this weekend.

PREDICTED XI (5-3-2): Soria; Carmona, Aberdin, Alderete, Alvarez, Angileri; Maksimovic, Santiago, Milla; Mata, Greenwood

UNAVAILABLE: Moriba (Suspended), Rico (Suspended), Latasa (Suspended), Iglesias (Injured), Duarte (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Milla (Injured)

MALLORCA TEAM NEWS: ONE INJURY CONCERN

As Real Mallorca make the trip to the capital to face Getafe, Javier Aguirre is only missing one injury issue for this weekend’s final day. Young Belgian defender Siebe van der Heyden is unavailable for this one.

PREDICTED XI (5-3-2): Rajkovic; Gonzalez, Valjent, Raillo, Copete, J. Costa; Sanchez, S. Costa, Rodriguez; Larin, Muriqi

UNAVAILABLE: Van der Heyden (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

GETAFE VS MALLORCA PREDICTION

Now then, as mentioned in the introduction, this one features two of the more defensive sides in Spain’s top-flight. In fact, only two sides, Rayo Vallecano and Cadiz, have scored fewer than Mallorca in 37 matches. However, Getafe have begun to play a little more on the front foot, whilst Mallorca’s handbrake may well come off in what is expected to be Javier Aguirre’s final game in charge. As a result, both teams scoring might actually provide some good value.
