THE LOWDOWN

NAPOLI

Napoli are the reigning champions in Italy but it has been a disappointing start to the campaign with the Neapolitans languishing down just inside the top four ahead of this weekend. After losing their manager, Luciano Spalletti, over the summer, Rudi Garcia has struggled to live up to his name and is under pressure, as stated by the club president, Aurelio D’Laurentiis.

Despite their poor start to the campaign, though, the home team have now managed three victories in their last four matches. They come into this on the back of a slender 1-0 win against Union Berlin, too, continuing their form, in the group stages of the UEFA Europa League in their most recent outing, during the week.

AC MILAN

AC Milan reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League last season but failed to put up much of a defence of the Serie A title as Napoli took that away and comfortably ran away with the league title. Now, under the management of Stefano Pioli with some heavy summer investment, the Rossoneri are expected to challenge once again.

In their opening nine matches of the campaign, AC Milan have managed seven victories and two defeats but those two losses have been hard to come by with a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Internazionale in the Derby della Madonnina as well as a 1-0 loss at home to Juventus, last weekend. They were then hammered by PSG in midweek.

THE TEAM NEWS

NAPOLI

Napoli have a couple of key injury concerns for this weekend’s visit of the Rossoneri as defender, Juan Jesus and forward, Victor Osimhen, injured.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Meret; Di Lorenzo, Rrahmani, Natan, Rui; Zielinski, Lobotka, Cajuste; Politano, Raspadori, Kvaratskhelia

UNAVAILABLE: Osimhen (Injured), Juan Jesus (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

AC MILAN

Stefano Pioli is without some key players for this one with the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ismael Bennacer still missing, as well as Samu Chukwueze.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Mirante; Calabria, Kalulu, Tomori, Florenzi; Musah, Adli; Pulisic, Reijnders, Leao; Giroud

UNAVAILABLE: Thiaw (Suspened), Chukwueze (Injured), Sportiello (Injured), Loftus-Cheek (Injured), Caldara (Injured), Bennacer (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Jovic (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

This is a clash between the last two winners of the Serie A title but they are both feeling a little underwhelmed so far. Napoli have suffered just two defeats in their opening nine matches as they try and challenge, once again, but their recent improvement has come against much lesser opposition. AC Milan have been outstanding but their recent results and performances have really let them down. This was the UEFA Champions League quarter-final last season and it could well be another entertaining encounter with both teams scoring seeming quite likely.

BETTING TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
