Thomas Tuchel remains in charge of England after The Three Lions collapsed late on, self-inflicted by Tuchel’s tactical choices, to a 2-1 defeat to Argentina in the semi-finals at the FIFA World Cup in the summer, in a tournament in which England had stumbled their way to the final four.
Spain, instead, dominated the tournament to back up their UEFA EURO 2024 triumph to win FIFA World Cup 2026. Luis de la Fuente’s La Roja have been brilliant since his arrival after FIFA World Cup 2022 and the 62-year-old has now signed a new contract until after UEFA EURO 2032.
Spain are a better team than England and have taken the UEFA Nations League seriously under De la Fuente, winning the tournament in 2023 and reaching the final in 2025 – and they are a better coached team than their opponents in London.
