Rinky Hijikata vs Andrey Rublev prediction

Rinky Hijikata began his campaign in Hangzhou with a straight sets win over Dalibor Svrcina. This was his first match since losing in the opening round of the US Open to Felix Auger-Aliassime in four sets. His standout result of 2026 was at Indian Wells, where he came through qualifying and beat the likes of Luciano Darderi and Alexander Bublik to advance to the round-of-16, where he was beaten by Cameron Norrie.

Andrey Rublev received a first-round bye as the second seed, so this will be his first match since his disappointing second-round defeat at Flushing Meadows to Daniel Merida, where he won the opener before losing 6-7 (3) 6-2 6-4 6-4. The Russian has struggled at the majors and at Masters events this season, but he did win the Nordea Open in July. Furthermore, he reached the Barcelona Open final, losing to Arthur Fils.

Rublev will be viewed as the favourite to win, and his overall firepower should be too much for Hijikata.
