THE LOWDOWN

LECCE

After losing manager Marco Baroni to Hellas Verona over the summer, Roberto D’Aversa took charge and started well but has endured a really difficult few months. He was eventually sacked a few weeks ago after headbutting Verona striker Thomas Henry in what was a feisty clash down in Apulia.

He has been replaced by Luca Gotti and his opening match in charge saw Lecce go to Salerno to face bottom-of-the-table Salernitana and grind out a much-needed 1-0 victory. That has helped them now begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting four points clear of the bottom three and the relegation places.

ROMA

Jose Mourinho was sacked as manager of Roma in mid-January with the Giallorossi sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table after a really poor run of form. The Romans now, though, are very much in contention for a top four or five finish in Serie A and, therefore, potential UEFA Champions League qualification.

They, coached by club legend Daniele De Rossi, have progressed into the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League with two-legged victories over Feyenoord and Brighton and Hove Albion as well as propelling themselves up the table domestically with seven victories, a draw and a defeat in their nine games since he was appointed until the end of the season.

THE TEAM NEWS

LECCE

Lecce have three injury concerns for this weekend’s visit of Roma as Lameck Banda, Mohamed Kaba and Kastriot Dermaku are unavailable for this one.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Falcone; Gendrey, Pongracic, Baschirotto, Gallo; Gonzalez, Ramadani, Oudin; Almqvist, Krstovic, Sansone

UNAVAILABLE: Banda (Injured), Kaba (Injured), Dermaku (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

ROMA

Roma have several availability issues with Lorenzo Pellegrini out suspended, whilst the likes of Sardar Azmoun, Paulo Dybala and Renato Sanches missing through injury.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Svilar; Karsdorp, Mancini, Diego Llorente, Spinazzola; Cristante, Paredes, Bove; Aouar, Lukaku, Il Faraone

UNAVAILABLE: Pellegrini (Suspended), Azmoun (Injured), Dybala (Injured), Sanches (Injured), Smalling (Injured), Kristensen (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Spinazzola (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Despite the change of manager, Lecce’s performance against rock-bottom Salernitana a couple of weeks ago remained underwhelming and the likelihood that they get dragged firmly into the relegation battle remains high. As a result of that, as well as their own magnificent form since the mid-January appointment of Daniele De Rossi, a comfortable and probably emphatic Roma win is to be expected on Monday.

TIP: ROMA TO WIN
