THE LOWDOWN

LAZIO

Former Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri left his role as Lazio manager earlier this month after elimination from the UEFA Champions League at the Round of 16 stage to Bayern Munich as well as three successive defeats in Serie A that left them sitting outside of the top seven or eight and the European spots in Italy’s top-flight.

They managed a 3-2 victory before the international break in a topsy turvy game against capital city rivals Frosinone. Then, over the break, they appointed former Hellas Verona and Olympique de Marseille boss Igor Tudor, who plays a similarly easy on the eye and progressive style of football but will make a major tweak to their formation.

JUVENTUS

Sarri has been shown the door and it wouldn’t be a major shock to see Juventus part company with Massimiliano Allegri before the end of the season as the Old Lady fade away and fizzle quite significantly. The Bianconeri were in a title race in mid-January but have badly collapsed since their defeat to champions-elect Internazionale in the Derby d’Italia.

Including that loss to the Nerazzurri, Juve have managed just one win, and even that was against relegation threatened Frosinone in unconvincing fashion, in their last eight matches in Serie A. They come into this one on the back of being held to a goalless draw by Genoa in their most recent outing before the March international break.

JUVENTUS

PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Szczesny; Gatti, Bremer, Danilo; Cambiaso, McKennie, Miretti, Iling-Junior; McKennie, Chiesa; Yilmaz

THE PREDICTION

This one is actually a fairly unpredictable one. On the face of it, an underperforming Lazio side are taking on a Juventus team that have remained one of the strongest teams in the country. However, this is a Lazio side hoping to benefit from the cliché of ‘new manager bounce’, whilst, as mentioned, Juve have been really, really poor for a couple of months now. Given that, as well as their home advantage, backing Lazio looks the way to go for this one.

TIP: LAZIO TO WIN
