THE LOWDOWN

LAZIO

Last month, Lazio parted company with former Chelsea and Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri after a disappointing and underwhelming Serie A campaign combined with UEFA Champions League quarter-final elimination against Bayern Munich. They have replaced him with the entertaining management of former Marseille boss Igor Tudor.

Up against another of his former clubs, Hellas Verona, Tudor is bringing his Lazio team into this game on the back of a 2-1 defeat of Juventus in the second-leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final tie at Stadio Olimpico but they did lose 3-2 on aggregate. They have now managed five victories and two defeats in their last seven matches across all competitions.

HELLAS VERONA

After narrowly avoiding relegation in a playoff against Spezia last season, Hellas Verona managed to appoint then Lecce boss Marco Baroni. They then started the season with back-to-back victories and that was just the second time they have ever done that in their history with the only time they had done that leading to them winning their only Serie A title.

However, the visitors then endured a 14-match winless run of form and they head into the final month of the campaign involved in the Italian relegation battle. They did enjoy a vital victory last weekend, though, as they defeated fellow strugglers Udinese by a goal to nil at the Bentegodi in their most recent outing.

QUESTIONABLE:

HELLAS VERONA

Poland international defender Pawel Dawidowicz is missing through injury for this weekend, whilst Juan Manuel Cruz is also an injury doubt for Verona.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Montipo; Centonze, Coppola, Magnani, Cabal; Duda, Serdar; Suslov, Folorunsho, Lazovic; Noslin

QUESTIONABLE: Cruz (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Maurizio Sarri’s style of football is easy on the eye but has become far too controlled and risk averse, leading to fairly dull games when is in charge of one of the teams. Igor Tudor will look to enhance the possession-based style of football that has been implemented with a fast and attacking, aggressive, front foot style of his own. Verona will go to the Olimpico in the capital knowing they have steadied the ship in the last month or so but Lazio remain firm favourites for this one, especially given their form as well as their home advantage.

TIP: LAZIO TO WIN
