INTER MILAN PREVIEW: INZAGHI UP AGAINST FORMER SIDE

The Italian champions, Internazionale, have suffered just two defeats throughout the 2023/24 campaign and both of them, quite astonishingly, have come against Serie B-bound Sassuolo, who they lost to a couple of weeks ago. However, they recovered from that loss with an emphatic hammering of Frosinone in the capital city last weekend.

The Nerazzurri went to Rome and thrashed their opponents by five goals to nil in a statement victory for Simone Inzaghi’s men. In that game, Davide Frattesi opened the scoring after 19 minutes before second-half strikes from Marko Arnautovic, Tajon Buchanan, Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram sealed the deal.

LAZIO PREVIEW: LAZIO CONTINUING TO FINISH WELL

In March, after an underwhelming campaign up until that stage, Maurizio Sarri decided to leave Lazio and he was eventually replaced by former Hellas Verona and Olympique de Marseille boss Igor Tudor. The capital city club have been really strong since Tudor’s arrival, though, and they have already secured European football for next season.

They come into this one on the back of a comfortable 2-0 defeat of Empoli at the Stadio Olimpico last weekend with Patric scoring in first-half stoppage-time before a late clinching goal scored by defensive midfielder Matias Vecino. That means they have now suffered just two defeats in their last ten matches across all competitions.

Inter have been magnificent and yet there is a danger their season finishes a little underwhelmingly. Their defeat, from leading 2-0, to Atletico Madrid in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League, Sassuolo doing the double over them and missing out on being unbeaten centurions will irritate them so finishing their season well will be wanted – especially in their final home game. Lazio, as mentioned, have been improved but the fluency that Igor Tudor wants to find has not yet been discovered and Inter are firm favourites.
