THE LOWDOWN
HELLAS VERONA
Marco Baroni departed Lecce at the end of last season to join a Hellas Verona side that had only narrowly escaped the drop in the post-season relegation playoff against Spezia. He then oversaw a vital victory against his former club in a heated clash at the Bentegodi last weekend with the only goal of the game being scored by Michael Folorunsho.
His managerial adversary, Roberto D’Aversa, was later sacked after headbutting Hellas Verona forward Thomas Henry, who was sent off at the end of the game, too. Verona have now enjoyed back-to-back victories, suffering just one loss in their last five Serie A matches and they have been much-improved of late.
AC MILAN
It has been some much-needed respite for Stefano Pioli of late with the Italian often coming under quite unfair criticism from Rossoneri supporters. They come into this one on the back of defeating Slavia Prague by three goals to one in the Czech capital in midweek to complete a 7-3 aggregate victory in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Europa League.
The seven-time European champions will play out an all-Italian quarter-final against Roma in that competition next month but they have little to play for in the league with UEFA Champions League qualification all but already wrapped up for next season, coming into this one on the back of a defeat of Empoli at San Siro last weekend.
THE TEAM NEWS
HELLAS VERONA
Hellas Verona only have one definite absentee or this weekend’s visit of their Milanese giants as Thomas Henry, as mentioned, is suspended due to his red card from last week.
PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Montipo; Tchatchoua, Magnani, Coppola, Cabal; Duda, Serdar; Suslov, Folorunsho, Lazovic; Noslin
UNAVAILABLE: Henry (Suspended)
QUESTIONABLE:
AC MILAN
In the first-half of that aforementioned game against Slavia in midweek, France goalkeeper Mike Maignan was substituted due to a knee injury and is unavailable.
PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Sportiello; Calabria, Thiaw, Tomori, Hernandez; Bennacer, Reijnders; Pulisic, Loftus-Cheek, Rafael Leao; Jovic
UNAVAILABLE: Alex Jimenes (Injured), Pobega (Injured), Maignan (Injured)

THE PREDICTION
After an extremely busy January transfer window, Marco Baroni has enjoyed a much-improved recent run of form as Hellas Verona move away from the bottom three and the relegation places. AC Milan have the issue that, as mentioned, they don’t have much to play for in Serie A and after playing quite a strong team in their second-leg against Slavia in midweek, backing Verona would be decent value on Sunday afternoon.
TIP: DOUBLE CHANCE – HELLAS VERONA TO WIN OR DRAW & UNDER 3.5 GOALS
