Carlos Alcaraz vs Taylor Fritz prediction

Carlos Alcaraz has already picked up a point for Team Europe after his success in the doubles with Jakub Mensik on day one of the Laver Cup. The seven-time Grand Slam champion is making his third appearance at the event. He made his long-awaited return from injury at the US Open towards the end of last month, winning four matches in a row before a dramatic quarter-final loss to Ben Shelton in a deciding set tiebreak.

Fritz partnered up with Alexander Bublik against Alcaraz and Mensik but lost in straight sets. The 2024 US Open finalist also lost in the third-round at Flushing Meadows after a five set loss to Francisco Cerundolo, despite being two sets and a break up. His highlight of the season was a run to the title at the Washington Open. 

Alcaraz leads the head-to-head 5-1. The pair have already contested several memorable battles at the Laver Cup. The Spaniard clinched victory for Europe after a straight sets win over Fritz in 2024, but the 28-year-old defeated Alcaraz a year later in San Francisco. Fritz’s serve may not be as effective on this slower surface, which could give Alcaraz more opportunities to make an impact on return.
