A semi-final spot will be on the line when two unlikely faces meet in Chengdu.

Neither Jenson Brooksby or Nikoloz Basilashvili were in the best of form prior to this tournament, but they have deservedly carved a path to this stage.

Brooksby followed up his win over Sebastian Baez with a 5-7 7-5 6-2 success over Lorenzo Sonego while Basilashvili upset an in-form fourth seed, Botic van de Zandschulp 6-4 7-5.

This will be a fourth meeting between the two with the Georgian leading 2-1, although his two wins were in 2019 and 2021 respectively. The American prevailed in straight sets in their most recent tussle in 2022.
