THE LOWDOWN

GENOA

Under the management of 2006 FIFA World Cup winner Alberto Gilardino, Genoa have become an ambitious Serie A club immediately following their promotion back to the top-flight last season. The home team sit firmly in the middle-of-the-table and are now some way off the top seven and the European spots.

They come into this one on the back of a 1-0 loss to Lazio at the Luigi Ferraris in their most recent outing with a second-half winning goal scored by former Liverpool man and the supposedly departing Luis Alberto. That means Genoa have now managed just one win in their last seven matches.

CAGLIARI

Former Chelsea and Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has overseen a productive campaign for Cagliari as they fight against a finish in the bottom three and the relegation places. The Sardinians, who started the season slowly, begin this weekend sitting four points clear of the drop zone with five games of the campaign to go.

The visitors’ most recently shared back-to-back 2-2 draws against champions Internazionale and then against Juventus but that game against Juve was a frustrating one as they had led by two goals to nil after 36 minutes in that game. It does now mean they are unbeaten in their last four matches in Serie A.

THE PREDICTION

These two sides gained promotion to the top-flight last season and have both enjoyed impressive campaigns as they try and push themselves away from the bottom three. They have both scored and conceded over a goal per game on average so far this season which has been unexpectedly entertaining. The pressure should well be off for both teams as they avoid the drop so both teams scoring looks a good bet for this one.

TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
