THE LOWDOWN
AC MILAN
It has been a fairly underwhelming campaign for the 2022 Serie A winners and seven-time European champions, AC Milan. The Rossoneri were knocked out in the group stages of the UEFA Champions League and they are also not meaningfully involved in the Italian title race with an emphasis on just staying in the top four and the UEFA Champions League spots.
They come into this on the back of a 2-2 draw with ten-man bottom-of-the-table Salernitana in their most recent outing, last weekend. That point required a 90th minute equaliser from Luka Jovic and has simply continued their inconsistency throughout this season. They have also suffered from a tough and long injury list in recent months.
SASSUOLO
Alessio Dionisi remains in charge of Sassuolo but the former Empoli boss is consistently under pressure with that pressure growing as performances and results remain underwhelming for the man that was initially tasked with maintaining an attacking style of football that has been associated with Sassuolo in the last half a decade to a decade or so.
The visitors begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just a few points and places above the bottom three and the relegation zone in Serie A. They have collected just one point in their last four matches and come into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat at home to a similarly underwhelming Genoa side, last weekend.

THE PREDICTION
AC Milan have had issues at the back this season with injury concerns blighting their form, as well as just general disorganisation with Stefano Pioli struggling to bed in so many impressive signings over the summer transfer window. They face a Sassuolo side that have defeated both Juventus and Inter so far this season and will take the game to the Rossoneri but Milan should come out on top at San Siro in what could be an entertaining encounter.
TIP: MILAN TO WIN & BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
