THE LOWDOWN

AC MILAN

It has been a fairly frustrating and underwhelming campaign for AC Milan with the pressure quite strong now on manager Stefano Pioli. A disappointing European season in both the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League was also carried through in the Coppa Italia, they never experienced a title race and were the team that lost to city rivals Inter for them to clinch the league.

The Rossoneri have been much better in the second-half of the season and are assured of UEFA Champions League qualification for next season. Milan come into this one on the back of a three-match winless run of form, though, which continued with a goalless draw against Juventus in Turin last weekend.

GENOA

Ownership and off-field issues are the biggest problem for Genoa with their owners 777 Partners coming under major scrutiny for the complications in their takeover of Everton, as well as several issues at other sister clubs like Standard Liege. Genoa spent relatively big in the summer after promotion so that will be a bit of a concern.

On the pitch, though, 2006 FIFA World Cup winning forward Alberto Gilardino has led his Genoa side to sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table. They are aiming for a top-half finish and come into this one on the back of some good form of their own, extended by a 3-0 hammering of Cagliari in their most recent outing, last weekend.

THE TEAM NEWS

AC MILAN

Both Davide Calabria and Yunus Musah are missing through suspension, whilst Mike Maignan is sidelined through injury alongside Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Luka Jovic.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Sportiello; Caldara, Gabbia, Thiaw, Florenzi; Adli, Reijnders; Pulisic, Bennacer, Leao; Giroud

UNAVAILABLE: Calabria (Suspended), Musah (Suspended), Maignan (Injured), Jovic (Injured), Loftus-Cheek (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Mirante (Injured), Kalulu (Injured)

GENOA

Both Mattia Bani and Junior Messias are unavailable due to injury for Genoa this weekend, whilst Alan Matturro and Ruslan Malinovskiy are doubtful.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Martinez; Vogliacco, De Winter, Vasquez; Sabelli, Thorsby, Badelj, Frendrup, Caricol; Gudmundsson, Retegui

UNAVAILABLE: Bani (Injured), Messias (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Malinovskiy (Injured), Matturro (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

AC Milan have absolutely nothing to play for for the remainder of this season. With their manager set to depart and just four games left, the seven-time European champions will simply be coasting along. Genoa, on the other hand, can squeeze themselves into the top-half, which would be very impressive after only just returning to Serie A. We could have quite a fun, end of season game for the neutral this weekend at San Siro.

TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
