THE PREDICTION
Werder Bremen celebrated an important and confidence-boosting 4-1 win at Hertha last Saturday to pull themselves away from danger. It was their second Bundesliga victory in three games having won just one of the previous 12. The Green-Whites also have a good recent record against Schalke, winning seven of the last 10 Bundesliga encounters between the two teams. And their opponents could not be in a worse situation going into this one, with last Sunday’s 4-0 defeat against Bayern Munich leaving them 10 points adrift of outright safety. These are the kind of fixtures where Schalke need to be picking up points if they are to stand any chance of survival, but considering they have only managed two on the road all season, there is little appeal in backing them to get anything at the Weserstadion.
