Mainz appointed former player Bo Svensson as their new head coach this week, together with a new team behind the scenes. Their aim is to steer the club clear of relegation and they will be desperate to get off to a good start on Saturday against local rivals Eintracht Frankfurt. Svensson will have been encouraged by what he saw in the 5-2 defeat to Bayern last Sunday, where Mainz were actually leading 2-0, but the fact remains they have only taken one point from their last five games. Frankfurt make the short trip to the OPEL ARENA off the back of their first back-to-back wins since October. The Eagles have only failed to score in one match this season but have also only registered one clean sheet, and with the home side keen to impress their new boss, it is likely that both teams will score.
