THE PREDICTION
Basement boys Schalke begin the New Year with already their fourth different coach of the season, after former Tottenham boss Christian Gross was confirmed as the permanent replacement for Manuel Baum. Gross has not managed in the Bundesliga since 2009 but he has been given the task of ending Schalke’s long winless run in the league, which now stands at 29 matches - although they did at least manage a win in the cup before Christmas. Hosts Hertha were in decent form before their 4-1 defeat at Freiburg two weeks ago, but they have only registered one victory in Berlin this season. It would take a brave person to bet on Schalke to win, but the Royal Blues are certainly capable of getting a point in the capital.
