THE PREDICTION
It is fair to say that Bayern tired a little at the end of 2020, which can be forgiven after a year in which they played more football than most and won everything there was to win. Three victories from six league games is below-par for the champions, but they did manage to reclaim top spot from Bayer Leverkusen in their last outing. Hansi Flick’s men will have been glad to have a little breather over Christmas and will be raring to go again on Sunday. That could be ominous for second-from-bottom Mainz, who changed coach for the second time this season at the start of this week having taken just two points from their last five Bundesliga matches. The 05ers have also been struggling for goals, drawing a blank in their last three, so this should be a routine win to nil for Bayern.
