THE TEAM NEWS
BORUSSIA MONCHENGLADBACH
- Borussia Monchengladbach’s top four hopes suffered another blow as they lost for the second game in succession and their latest defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich sees them come into this game in fifth place, one point behind Bayer Leverkusen.
- Gladbach looked like they had done enough to secure what would have been a crucial point with the scores level heading into the final five minutes but they could not hang on and succumbed to a late goal.
- Alassane Plea will come back into the side after serving a one-match ban but fellow forward Marcus Thuram is a doubt after he left the field just 10 minutes into the game with Bayern with an ankle issue.
WOLFSBURG
- Wolfsburg were unable to make it back-to-back wins in the Bundesliga as they played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with Freiburg at the weekend but with Hoffenheim losing to RB Leipzig, they strengthened their position in sixth place in the table.
- Wolfsburg looked to be cruising to victory after a brace inside the opening 30 minutes from Wout Weghorst but the hosts conceded goals in quick succession either side of half-time with the stalemate unable to be broken.
- Ignacio Camacho could make a welcome return for Wolfsburg although the midfielder will have to prove he is over his ankle problem and he may have to settle for a spot on the bench even if he does make it.
THE PREDICTION
Fifth hosts sixth in a crucial contest in the Bundesliga with
Borussia Monchengladbach and Wolfsburg both needing the points. Gladbach
come into this on the back of two losses and now sit outside the top
four while Wolfsburg will also be looking to get back to winning ways to
boost their chances of finish sixth. Both teams are likely to throw
plenty forward in their efforts to win and it is likely that there will
be goals at either end.
