THE LOWDOWN

REIMS

Will Still is under mounting pressure in charge of Stade de Reims. A lot of money has been spent by the club in both the summer and January transfer windows. However, an underperformance in relative terms to the money spent, combined with the fact Still has openly discussed moving on in the near future, has left things a little unhappy at Reims.

They begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just outside of the top six and the European spots but on the back of another underwhelming performance and result. They took the lead in Alsace last weekend against Strasbourg via Keito Nakamura before eventually going on to suffer a defeat by three goals to one.

MONTPELLIER

Montpellier Herault begin the 30th match day of the 2023/24 Ligue 1 campaign sitting a few points and places just outside of the bottom three and the relegation places. They have enjoyed a really improved recent run of form under the management of Armenian coach, Michel Der Zakarian, recovering from a slow campaign thus far.

The visitors come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with bottom-of-the-table Clermont in their most recent outing with Tanguy Coulibaly scoring a 56th minute equaliser after Muhammad Cham opened the scoring for the strugglers. They have suffered just one defeat in their last six matches in Ligue 1.

THE PREDICTION

Stade de Reims really could do with a victory. Will Still has done a good job with the club but he is, as mentioned, under a bit of pressure. They will still (genuine accident) believe that they can squeeze themselves into the European qualifying spots with their generally proactive style of football. Montpellier have turned themselves into one of the more in-form teams in Ligue 1 with the two teams combining for 72 goals so far this season so both teams scoring would appear a good bet.

TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
