THE LOWDOWN

MONTPELLIER

Armenian coach Michel Der Zakarian remains in charge of Montpellier Herault but he is coming under increasing pressure as they hover just above the bottom three and the danger zone on goal difference after a really difficult run of form has seen them plummet from the middle-of-the-table in Ligue 1.

The home team come into this one on the back of a 4-1 hammering of Olympique de Marseille in their most recent outing, last weekend, at the Stade Velodrome. Montpellier took a fifth minute lead in that match before Iliman Ndiaye equalised then Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a brace before a Falaye Sacko own goal.

STRASBOURG

There has been quite a lot of off-field unrest in the Alsace region with Strasbourg supporters really unhappy about the fact they were purchased by BlueCo and have effectively become a feeder club to Chelsea. There are protests on a weekly basis and it has distracted from the on-the-pitch performances and results of the team.

Coached by former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira, Strasbourg come into this one on the back of four successive Ligue 1 losses and they were most recently beaten on penalties in midweek by Olympique Lyonnais in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France. That cup defeat came on the back of four successive defeats in the league.

STRASBOURG

PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Bellaarouch; Senaya, Sow, Perrin, Guilbert; Angelo Gabriel, Sissoko, Mwanga, Diarra; Gameiro, Emegha

THE PREDICTION

This one has the potential to be a very entertaining encounter because both sides have hit a desperate run of form. Montpellier were hammered by Marseille last weekend but the hosts will need to react. Strasbourg have been really weak at the back, though, with 35 goals conceded – only the bottom three teams have conceded more than them. Both teams scoring looks a good bet for this one as they search for a much-needed win.

TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
