THE LOWDOWN
LENS
Coached by Frank Haise, Lens had a difficult start to the season after losing some key men and having to live up to the expectation that they would challenge for a top three finish once again this season after finishing as runners’ up last year. They begin this match day sitting just outside of the top five and the European qualifying spots.
However, they do come into this one on the back of a much-needed victory at Parc OL against Olympique Lyonnais after a run of no wins in four matches across all competitions. Their win against Lyon was by three goals to nil with goals scored by Florian Sotoca, Elye Wahi and then former Southampton defender Kevin Danso.
BREST
Former Sunderland player Eric Roy is in charge of an agricultural Stade Brest side that are very much the surprise package in Ligue 1 this season. They begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting tucked inside the top three and in an excellent position to, quite remarkably, earn UEFA Champions League qualification.
The visitors come into this one on the back of a third successive victory in the league as former Norwich City midfielder Pierre-Lees Melou scored the only goal of the game as they defeated Le Havre last weekend. That result means they are now unbeaten in their last 13 matches in the league in a run that stretches all the way back to November.

THE PREDICTION
This one has the potential to be a real cracker up in the north of France on Sunday afternoon. Last season’s ‘best of the rest’ Lens are hosting this season’s pretenders to the throne Brest with the two sides looking to secure a spot in Europe for next season. Lens recovered from a poor run of form with an emphatic win in Lyon last weekend and they will be buoyant for this one. Given that, as well as the fact that Brest are surely due a defeat and performed relatively poorly last weekend, backing Lens looks the way to go for this one.
TIP: LENS TO WIN
