THE LOWDOWN

LE HAVRE

Following promotion back to the top-flight for the first time in over 15 years last season, Le Havre had enjoyed a relatively impressive return to Ligue 1 football in the first-half of the campaign as they sat firmly ensconced in the middle-of-the-table when they went into the winter break but things have taken a turn for the worse since then.

The home team, still coached by former Slovenia international Luka Elsner, come into this one on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Stade Brest last weekend with a 34th minute winner from Pierre-Lees Melou. That means they have now suffered five successive defeats in all competitions as they plummet down towards the bottom three and the danger zone.

TOULOUSE

Toulouse have struggled to cope with fighting on two fronts this season in both Ligue 1 and the UEFA Europa League but their elimination from Europe at the hands of Benfica last month has also come at a time where they have majorly improved domestically and propelled themselves into the middle-of-the-table.

The visitors come into this one on the back of a 2-1 win at home to Nice last weekend, coming from behind after Terem Moffi scored early for the visitors with goals from Thijs Dallinga and Yann Gboho in quick succession in the second-half. That was their third straight victory and they have now suffered just two losses in their last seven matches across all competitions.

THE PREDICTION

A few months ago this one would have appeared to be nailed on for a low-scoring home win but Le Havre have been really underwhelming of late. They have drifted firmly into the relegation battle and really do look like they will be dragged into the relegation playoff place at least. Toulouse are in excellent form but are hardly a team worth backing purely because of how few goals they score. These two have managed to notch 51 between them so far this season so a low-scoring encounter is to be expected on Sunday afternoon.
