THE LOWDOWN

COVENTRY

Mark Robins has done an incredible job in charge of Coventry City and reaching the semi-finals of the FA Cup is just the latest step on their remarkable journey. The Sky Blues produced a dramatic comeback at Molineux against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the quarter-finals as they defeated their midlands rivals by three goals to two last month.

Last season’s playoff runners’ up did have their playoff hopes for this season pretty much ended last weekend in another derby game against Birmingham City. They went to their former recent home, St Andrews, and suffered a 3-0 defeat to the struggling second city club to make it three defeats in four matches in April.

MAN UTD

Erik ten Hag is under pressure in charge of Manchester United and could find himself out of a job this summer if the Red Devils continue their underperformance in the Premier League and also suffer a defeat to second-tier opposition in this weekend’s FA Cup semi-final. They have been extremely underwhelming throughout the campaign.

Last season’s FA Cup runners’ up come into this one on the back of another poor performance as they scraped their way to a 2-2 draw against AFC Bournemouth. That was a typical outing for United, though, whereby they played badly but inexplicably avoided defeat. They have won just two of their last nine matches inside 90 minutes across all competitions.

THE TEAM NEWS

COVENTRY

Both Milan van Ewijk and Matty Godden have been missing for Mark Robins and Coventry lately but both of them are expected to be available for this weekend.

Japanese winger Tatsuhiro Sakamoto is expected to be out for the season for Coventry so he will be unavailable for this weekend’s cup semi. Jamie Allen is also expected to be out.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Collins; Latibeaudiere, Thomas, Kitching, Bidwell; Torp, Sheaf; Van Ewijk, Palmer, Wright; Simms

UNAVAILABLE: Allen (Injured), Sakamoto (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

MAN UTD

Erik ten Hag remains without key defenders such as left-back duo Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw, whilst Lisandro Martinez is also unavailable for United.

Anthony Martial may well have played his last game for United as he remains unavailable alongside the likes of defenders Victor Lindelof and Raphael Varane.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Kambwala, Wan-Bissaka; Casemiro, Mainoo; Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford; Hojlund

UNAVAILABLE: Varane (Injured), Lindelof (Injured), Martinez (Injured), Shaw (Injured), Malacia (Injured), Martial (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Evans (Injured), McTominay (Injured), Antony (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Mark Robins’ impressive reign in charge of Coventry, and especially their experience in the Championship, has been built upon a counter-attacking style of football. That should create chances against a weak United defence, especially with the form of Haji Wright and Ellis Simms. United are susceptible to almost anyone they play and very, very rarely win convincingly so backing Coventry to score is a good bet but with the sheer overwhelming quality on the field from the Premier League side means they will also likely create enough to damage the Coventry defence.

TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
