THE LOWDOWN

WOLVES

The possibility of Gary O’Neil departing Molineux this summer is a growing one. After what has been a genuinely impressive season of over achievement for the large part, he has been heavily linked with the Liverpool job but is now in danger of leaving Wolverhampton Wanderers against his will with the hosts in some really poor form.

Denied an equaliser by Hwang Hee-chan due to VAR in midweek, Wolves fell to a 1-0 loss at home to Bournemouth a few days ago. That means they have collected just a point from their last four matches and they are now winless in their last seven matches across all competitions, beginning with an FA Cup quarter-final loss to Coventry in mid-March.

LUTON

Much like O’Neil and Wolves, Rob Edwards has enjoyed an impressive campaign at Luton Town as they fight against all odds to narrowly avoid relegation. However, ever since a mid-season improvement, the Hatters are now in really poor form but still sit just a point off safety with four games to go.

They come into this one on the back of a 5-1 hammering at the hands of Brentford at Kenilworth Road last weekend with the Bees 5-0 up before Luke Berry’s second-half stoppage-time consolation. That followed a 5-1 loss to Manchester City and means they have now managed just one win in their last 14 matches across all competitions.

THE TEAM NEWS

WOLVES

Gary O'Neil has had lots of injuries piling up in the last month or so and he now has a fresh concern with Santiago Bueno unavailable for this weekend due to a hamstring injury against Bournemouth.

Wolves are also potentially without fellow defender Toti due to a hamstring injury, whilst key attackers Pedro Neto and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde are also unavailable.

PREDICTED XI (4-1-4-1): Sa; Semedo, Kilman, Toti, Ait-Nouri; Lemina; Sarabia, Joao Gomes, Doyle, Hwang; Matheus Cunha

UNAVAILABLE: Dawson (Injured), Chiwome (Injured), S. Bueno (Injured), Pedro Neto (Injured), Bellegarde (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Toti (Injured)

LUTON

Rob Edwards has been dealt yet another injury blow for this one. Issa Kabore, on loan from Manchester City, is now expected to miss the rest of this season with an ankle injury.

The Hatters' boss has also said that both Chiedozie Ogbene and Elijah Adebayo are expected to miss the trip to Molineux on a long list of key first-team injury absentees.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Kaminski; Burke, Mengi, Osho; Hashioka, Lokonga, Barkley, Doughty; Clark, Chong; Morris

UNAVAILABLE: Lockyer (Illness), Andersen (Injured), Bell (Injured), Potts (Injured), Kabore (Injured), Nakamba (Injured), Ogbene (Injured), Brown (Injured), Adebayo (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Burke (Illness)

THE PREDICTION

Gary O’Neil has perhaps put a bit of pressure on himself with outlandish remarks against some fairly reasonable decisions at times this season, albeit Wolves have had some fairly bizarre calls made against them by officials. That, though, combined with launching into a statement essentially begging for a busy summer transfer window could well be a cause for taking their eye off the ball in terms of pushing for a top seven finish. Luton must win really and if any team may sense a chance to take advantage of another’s weakness, it is the hard-working, hard-fought nature of Rob Edwards’ men.

TIP: DOUBLE CHANCE – LUTON TO WIN OR DRAW
