THE LOWDOWN

WOLVES

As he prepares to take on his former club, Gary O’Neil has done a good job in charge of Wolverhampton Wanderers but there is a danger his and Wolves’ season fizzles out quite a bit after their FA Cup quarter-final loss to Coventry City last month has combined with a major dip in form in the league and O’Neil airing some issues ahead of the summer transfer window.

Wolves come into this one on the back of a 2-0 loss at home to Arsenal at Molineux at the weekend with goals from Leandro Trossard before half-time and then another goal in second-half stoppage-time from Martin Odegaard. Wolves are now winless in their last six matches across all competitions.

BOURNEMOUTH

AFC Bournemouth took the decision to sack O’Neil last summer and appoint Andoni Iraola with an eye on a progressive, intense and front foot style of football. The Cherries started the season slowly but they have since majorly improved and begin the weekend sitting just a point below Wolves and with an outside shot of a top seven finish.

The Cherries, though, after an improvement in their form against some of the weaker sides in the league, have now managed to collect just one point from their last three matches in the Premier League. They suffered a 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa at Villa Park at the weekend after Dominic Solanke scored the opening goal in the game in the 31st minute.

THE TEAM NEWS

WOLVES

Gary O'Neil, in a week of strong links to Liverpool, could welcome back a couple of players for this week. Both Nelson Semedo and Matheus Cunha are nearing their returns from injury.

As well as those two, attacker Jean-Ricner Bellegarde could also return for this one after his knee injury. Rayan Ait-Nouri will be 'fit to start' according to O'Neil as well as both Mario Lemina and Pablo Sarabia.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-1-1): Sa; S. Bueno, Kilman, Toti; Doherty, Doyle, M. Lemina, Joao Gomes, Ait-Nouri; Sarabia; Hwang

UNAVAILABLE: Dawson (Injured), Chiwone (Injured), N. Lemina (Injured), Pedro Neto (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Semedo (Injured), Bellegarde (Injured), Cunha (Injured)

BOURNEMOUTH

Ahead of this week's trip to Molineux, Andoni Iraola has confirmed that his side have no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues so they will be able to name an unchanged eleven for this one.

They do, though, remain without defenders Ryan Fredericks and Chris Mepham, as well as the likes of Tyler Adams, Romain Faivre, Marcus Tavernier and Luis Sinisterra.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Neto; Smith, Senesi, Zabarnyi, Kelly; Cook, Christie; Ouattara, Kluivert, Kerkez; Solanke

UNAVAILABLE: Mepham (Injured), Fredericks (Injured), Adams (Injured), Faivre (Injured), Tavernier (Injured), Sinisterra (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

There will be some sort of irony that is appreciated by many neutrals that Wolves begin the final five games of this season sitting above Bournemouth after the visitors fairly harshly, albeit with some sort of understanding, decided to sack O’Neil and Wolves appointed him on the eve of the campaign. Bournemouth will go to Molineux on the front foot but O’Neil has shown a capability to put on some detailed and pragmatic tactical game plans that have limited the opposition to few chances and he should be able to do so against a team full of players he coached last season. With it likely that Wolves will end their winless run soon, a double chance bet in favour of them, especially with home advantage, would seem a good bet.

TIP: DOUBLE CHANCE – WOLVES TO WIN OR DRAW
