THE LOWDOWN

TOTTENHAM

Ange Postecoglou will have very little trouble in motivating Tottenham Hotspur this weekend. Not only is their own season on the line as they challenge Aston Villa for a top four finish and UEFA Champions League qualification, a victory would also almost entirely kill any hopes that Arsenal have of winning the Premier League title this season.

They haven’t played for a couple of weeks, though, and come into this one on the back of an absolute annihilation against Newcastle United at St James’ Park. The Magpies hammered Spurs by four goals to nil with a brace from Sweden international Alexander Isak as well as goals from Fabian Schar and Anthony Gordon.

ARSENAL

As they head into this weekend, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal sit a point clear of Manchester City at the top-of-the-table in the Premier League. However, City do have a game-in-hand so the Gunners will know that only 12 points from 12 will put enough pressure on City to even remotely crack – making this north London derby a potential classic.

They come into this one on the back of an outstanding performance in another London derby in midweek as they thrashed Chelsea by five goals to nil at the Emirates Stadium. Leandro Trossard opened the scoring in that match for Arsenal before separate braces scored by Kai Havertz and Ben White.

THE TEAM NEWS

TOTTENHAM

Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that two key first-teamers will be fully fit and available for this weekend as both Pedro Porro and Richarlison have 'trained well and are available'.

However, Destiny Udogie will be out for the rest of this season, whilst Oliver Skipp will also be unavailable for this one. Fraser Forster, Ryan Sessegnon and Manor Solomon are all also out.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Vicario; Pedro Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Davies; Bissouma, Bentancur; Kulusevski, Maddison, Werner; Son

UNAVAILABLE: Forster (Injured), Udogie (Injured), Sessegnon (Injured), Skipp (Injured), Solomon (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

ARSENAL

In his pre-match press conference ahead of the derby, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has revealed that Netherlands international defender Jurrien Timber is 'very close' and could be involved this weekend.

Aside from that, the Gunners are expected to be fully fit and available with no other injury concerns or suspension issues after everyone came through their clash against Chelsea 'ok'.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): David Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Kiwior; Odegaard, Jorginho, Rice; Saka, Havertz, Trossard

UNAVAILABLE:

QUESTIONABLE: Timber (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

The north London derby has arguably been the best derby in England to watch in recent seasons with it often delivering genuine entertainment. In fact, the 2-2 thriller the two teams shared back in September was one of the more uneventful clashes. Tottenham only know one way of how to play under Postecoglou so will get after the league’s top scorers. Arsenal remain favourites given the control and form they have showed this season but it could well be an entertaining encounter.

TIP: ARSENAL TO WIN & OVER 2.5 GOALS
