THE LOWDOWN

SOUTHAMPTON

  • Southampton are rooted to the bottom of the table right now and their prospects look bleak as they now take on a Man City side hunting Arsenal for the Premier League title.
  • The likes of Mohamed Salisu and Che Adams have not recovered in time to feature while Tino Livramento, who has been sidelined for a number of months, is back in training but is not yet ready for a competitive return to action.

MAN CITY

  • Man City’s title hopes remain alive after they successfully saw off Liverpool last weekend despite going behind in that fixture, and that is now seven straight wins in all competitions for Pep Guardiola’s side.
  • Erling Haaland has been passed fit and available for this fixture and the Norwegian will almost certainly come straight into the starting line-up, which leaves Phil Foden as the only injury absentee.

THE PREDICTION

The task facing Southampton was already a monumental one in terms of getting a result out of this fixture but the imminent return of Erling Haaland is the last thing the Saints would have wanted, with the Norwegian having already passed 42 goals in all competitions this season. The Man City striker will be eager to get back on the goal hunt ahead of a crucial Champions League tie with Bayern, and with Southampton having kept just one clean sheet at home in the Premier League this season, backing Haaland to get on the scoresheet makes sense.

TIP: ERLING HAALAND TO SCORE ANYTIME
