THE LOWDOWN

MAN UTD

It is genuinely quite astonishing how fortunate Erik ten Hag has been this season and Manchester United come into this one on the back of yet another poor performance that ended up in a victory. United went behind twice at home to Championship-bound Sheffield United in midweek but eventually overcame the Blades by four goals to two.

Last weekend, United gave up a three-goal lead against Coventry City in the semi-finals of the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium but after scraping through on penalties, following the narrow escape of a Coventry winner thanks to VAR. They begin the weekend sitting just about tucked inside the top six in the Premier League.

BURNLEY

About two months ago, following a 3-0 hammering of Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, there were strong rumours that Burnley may part company with their manager Vincent Kompany as they appeared destined to drop into the Championship with little resistance. However, things have very much turned around for the Clarets.

Burnley begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just three points behind Nottingham Forest and potential safety. Their most recent outing saw them dispatch of Sheffield United by four goals to one at Bramall Lane last weekend and they have now suffered just one defeat in their last six matches.

THE TEAM NEWS

MAN UTD

Erik ten Hag has had to deal with lots of injuries throughout the campaign. He has said he is expected to still be without Willy Kambwala and Marcus Rashford with the same squad from midweek expected bar the possible return of Mason Mount.

The Dutchman has suggested that he is hoping to have the likes of Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial back before the end of the season.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Onana; Dalot, Maguire, Casemiro, Wan-Bissaka; Mainoo, McTominay; Antony, Fernandes, Garnacho; Hojlund

UNAVAILABLE: Evans (Injured), Martinez (Injured), Kambwala (Injured), Lindelof (Injured), Varane (Injured), Malacia (Injured), Shaw (Injured), Martial (Injured), Rashford (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Mount (Injured)

BURNLEY

Vincent Kompany has confirmed that key attacker Lyle Foster is ‘fine’ after the South Africa international limped out of Burnley’s 4-1 win at Sheffield United last weekend.

However, it remains the case that Jordan Beyer, Ameen Al Dakhil, Aaron Ramsey and Nathan Redmond will be out for the season with Luca Koleosho also unavailable.

PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Muric; Assignon, O’Shea, Esteve, Taylor; Vitinho, Cullen, Berge, Larsen; Foster, Odobert

UNAVAILABLE: Beyer (Injured), Al Dakhil (Injured), Ramsey (Injured), Koleosho (Injured), Redmond (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

This one really could be anything. The fact of the matter is, Manchester United won just their seventh game all season by more than a solitary goal in midweek against one of the worst teams in Premier League history. Burnley are confident in themselves with their form and will be boosted by the fact that even that Sheffield United notched twice at Old Trafford. United do somehow always seemingly manage to find a way under Ten Hag so both teams scoring remains a good bet.

TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
