THE LOWDOWN

EVERTON

Everton are in real danger. Sean Dyche is under real pressure. The Toffees begin the match day sitting just a couple of points clear of the bottom three after a terrible few months that continued last week as they were hammered 6-0 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, really exposing the overall weakness of the Merseysiders.

For a third successive season, Everton head into the final month of the campaign in a perilous position. Their 6-0 loss to the Blues means they have managed just two victories in their last 19 matches across all competitions with those two wins being a 1-0 win over Burnley thanks to a Burnley error and a 1-0 FA Cup replay victory over Crystal Palace via an Andre Gomes free-kick.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST

Nottingham Forest’s four-point deduction during the March international break has made the relegation battle very interesting as they head into the final five games of the 2023/24 campaign. Forest begin this match day sitting just a point above Luton Town in the bottom three and the relegation places.

Forest’s performances have improved of late but the pressure remains very heavy on former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo. They most recently shared a 2-2 draw with Nuno’s former club Wolves at the City Ground last weekend and they have drawn three, won one and lost one of their last five Premier League matches.

THE TEAM NEWS

EVERTON

Everton manager Sean Dyche is dealing with several availability issues for this weekend. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Jarrad Branthwaite and Idrissa Gueye have only been able to be involved in light training.

The Toffees will remain without injured attackers Dele Alli and Lewis Dobbin, whilst club captain Seamus Coleman has been described as 'touch and go at best' with Nathan Patterson out for the season.

PREDICTED XI (4-5-1): Pickford; Godfrey, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; McNeil, Doucoure, Garner, Onana, Harrison; Beto

UNAVAILABLE: Patterson (Injured), Alli (Injured), Dobbin (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Branthwaite (Injured), Coleman (Injured), Gueye (Injured), Calvert-Lewin (Injured)

NOTTINGHAM FOREST

Nuno Espirito Santo has confirmed that key attacker Anthony Elanga has returned to full first-team training but will have to be assessed ahead of Sunday's clash at Goodison Park.

Forest remain without another fellow key forward in Taiwo Awoniyi but the Nigerian international is nearing his return. Defender Willy Boly is also unavailable for this weekend.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Sels; Williams, Felipe, Murillo, Aina; Yates, Danilo; Reyna, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Wood

UNAVAILABLE: Boly (Injured), Awoniyi (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Elanga (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

This game takes place after Luton Town host Brentford at Kenilworth Road with a Hatters victory sinking Nottingham Forest into the bottom three and also seeing them leapfrog Everton. If that was to happen then the tension and nerves for this clash at Goodison Park could be unparallelled anywhere in Europe as two giants of English football stare down the barrel. Forest perhaps have more quality going forward but this is a nervy six-pointer between two naturally defensive and cautious managers so an intriguing but low-scoring thriller is to be expected.
