THE LOWDOWN

CHELSEA

Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino is in charge of a Chelsea side that have once again majorly underperformed this season as they begin this match day sitting in the bottom-half of the Premier League table. The Blues have been absolutely thrilling to watch, though, and that is at least worth something.

They were held to a 2-2 draw by bottom-of-the-table Sheffield United at Bramall Lane in their most recent outing, last weekend, with Oli McBurnie scoring a second-half stoppage-time equaliser. That means Chelsea’s 30 matches have consisted of 107 goals this season. Their last seven matches across all competitions have featured both teams scoring at least twice.

EVERTON

Sean Dyche remains under intense pressure and scrutiny at Goodison Park after Everton received another points deduction in midweek as they were dragged closer to the bottom three and the relegation places once again. The Toffees did manage their first victory since mid-December last weekend.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin closed down a stuttering Arijanet Muric to give Everton a slender 1-0 lead. They begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just two points outside of the bottom three and the relegation places and have been really underwhelming for a few months now as they look set for a struggle against the drop in the last month or so of the campaign.

THE TEAM NEWS

CHELSEA

Mauricio Pochettino has said that both Axel Disasi and midfielder Enzo Fernandez have been unavailable to train this week so they are doubts for the visit of Everton for this match day.

The Blues have also been without Robert Sanchez and Raheem Sterling, who are suffering from illness, whilst left-back Ben Chilwell is 'partially training' as he recovers from injury.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Petrovic; Gusto, Silva, Badiashile, Cucurella; Caicedo, Gallagher; Madueke, Palmer, Mudryk; Jackson

UNAVAILABLE: Fofana (Injured), James (Injured), Ugochukwu (Injured), Lavia (Injured), Nkunku (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Sanchez (Illness), Disasi (Injured), Colwill (Injured), Chilwell (Injured), Fernandez (Injured), Sterling (Injured)

EVERTON

Sean Dyche has confirmed that striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has missed training this week with the Englishman suffering from a 'minor, niggly hamstring' issue but there isn't much concern over his involvement this week.

Key midfielder Amadou Onana has returned to the first-team training this week, though, with the Belgium international expected to be involved at Stamford Bridge.

PREDICTED XI (4-5-1): Pickford; Coleman, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; McNeil, Doucoure, Onana, Gueye, Harrison; Calvert-Lewin

UNAVAILABLE: Alli (Injured), Dobbin (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Garner (Injured), Danjuma (Injured), Calvert-Lewin (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

As mentioned, Chelsea’s last seven matches have featured two or more goals for both sides. Whilst high-scoring matches have been a theme throughout the campaign for the Blues, that sort of run of form is simply unsustainable. They come up against an Everton side that have only scored 32 goals in 31 games with only Sheffield United having failed to score that many. If any team was to stop the Chelsea run then Everton could well be that side so a lower scoring encounter is finally to be expected.

TIP: UNDER 3.5 GOALS
