FPL 2023-24 | Double Gameweek 37 | Captain Picks

For the vast majority of FPL managers, Double Gameweek 37 will be seen as possibly the most lucrative as any over the course of the season. A number of high value fantasy assets will have the benefit of two fixtures, with the potential for huge returns in the process. In what is the penultimate gameweek of the 2023-24 Premier League season, it’s vital that FPL managers take advantage. As always, we’re on hand to help and have marked out three premium captain picks alongside what could prove a smart differential selection ahead of Saturday’s 11:00 deadline.

PREMIUM OPTIONS

Erling Haaland (£14.2m) vs FUL (a), TOT (a)

It’s safe to say that Erling Haaland is back in business and just in time for a juicy double gameweek. The Norwegian striker accumulated a monster haul in Gameweek 36, scoring four goals against Wolves, including two from the penalty spot which led to him picking up 21 fantasy points in a 5-1 victory for Man City. That makes it 25 goals and eight assists for Haaland in the Premier League with two gameweeks remaining.

Pep Guardiola’s side know that victory in each of their final three games would see them crowned Premier League champions for a fourth consecutive season and Haaland should have a big role to play. Trips to Fulham and Spurs make up Double Gameweek 37 for Man City and Haaland, who already boasts a hat-trick, an assist and 20 FPL points against the former earlier this campaign.

Cole Palmer (£6.3m) vs NFO (a), BHA (a)

Back on the scoresheet in Gameweek 36 was Cole Palmer, scoring for the first time since his four-goal haul against Everton as Chelsea thrashed West Ham 5-0 at Stamford Bridge. Palmer is still in the hunt for the golden boot with 21 goals to his name, along with 11 assists and 224 fantasy points overall, the joint-highest score not just among midfielders but the entire FPL player-base.

Chelsea have racked up nine goals across their last three games, which bodes well heading into Double Gameweek 37 and two away fixtures against Nottingham Forest and Brighton respectively. Palmer’s motivation is still extremely high as he continues to make his case for England selection at the upcoming European Championships and with an extremely high ownership percentage, the best way to make use of owning Palmer in Double Gameweek 37 is to captain him.

Alexander Isak (£8.4m) vs BHA (H), MUN (a)

We highlighted Alexander Isak in Gameweek 36 for good reason and the Swedish star did not let us down. Despite missing a penalty, Isak scored and set one up against Burnley which makes it six attacking returns across the last four gameweeks including five goals and an assist. With 154 FPL points over the course of the campaign so far, Isak is the fourth highest-scoring forward from a fantasy perspective.

Newcastle host Brighton to begin Double Gameweek 37 before visiting Man Utd, who are coming off the back of a 4-0 mauling at the hands of Crystal Palace. With confidence clearly low within the Red Devils’ squad, the Magpies and more specifically Isak, could well take advantage. The striker will be looking to add to his current tally of 20 league goals.

DIFFERENTIAL OPTION

Nicolas Jackson (£7.0m) vs NFO (a), BHA (a)

Not always the most reliable player but with form in his favour, Nicolas Jackson represents a potentially enticing differential skipper. Across the last four gameweeks, Chelsea’s first-choice forward has racked up four goals, three assists and 40 FPL points. Most recently, Jackson bagged a brace and an assist in a 16-point-haul against West Ham, his second double-figure haul in those four gameweeks mentioned.

Confidence is clearly a key factor in Jackson’s game and right now he has bundles of it. You would expect him to fashion opportunities against the likes of Nottingham Forest and Brighton, even with both games being away from home. In the penultimate gameweek, FPL managers are running out of time to catch their mini-league rivals if trailing and a differential captain like Jackson could be worth the risk.
