England vs India prediction

In an end-to-end third Test at Lord’s, England held their nerve to come out on top by just 22 runs. A superb showing with the ball under intense pressure saw the home side dismiss India for 170, although they were made to sweat by Ravindra Jadeja, whose unbeaten 61 got the tourists close with the assistance of the tail blocking out as best they could.

All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy and left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh are both out of the fourth Test through injury, which has led to a call up for Anshul Kamboj. There is also a question mark over Rishabh Pant’s ability to keep after he suffered a finger injury in the third Test, although he should be fine to bat. For England, Hampshire spin-bowler Liam Dawson returns to the Test fold following injury to Shoaib Bashir after eight years in the wilderness.

India bounced back admirably from defeat in the first Test to win at Edgbaston, but to do so again at Emirates Old Trafford after such an agonising loss in the third Test would be an even bigger achievement. England have had a fire lit under them after their first loss of the series and their levels are unlikely to drop moving forward. This makes backing them to secure the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy in Manchester a move well worth making.
