THE PREDICTION
Daryl Gurney again looked in good form as he defeated Chris Dobey 4-1 in the last 32 with an average of 101.39 and he is now one win away from reaching the quarter-finals at Alexandra Palace for the second time. Standing in the Northern Irishman’s way of a place in the last eight is Vincent van der Voort who is aiming to make it through to the last eight here for the first time since the 2014-15 PDC World Championship. The big Dutchman has also looked in good shape on his way to reaching the last 16 and he notably defeated Gurney 11-5 when they last met in a big TV tournament at the World Matchplay in July. Gurney is playing with a lot more confidence than he was back then though and the standard of play that he produced in his wins against O’Connor and Dobey suggest that he might well come out on top on this occasion.
