Freddy Vidal: Hoping to turn lessons into opportunity
Freddy “The Barbarian” Vidal (4-0) returns to the Contender Series at 31 years old, representing the United States. After earning a win on Week 5 but leaving without a contract, Vidal is back to prove he belongs on the UFC roster. His last appearance showed flashes of toughness and physicality, but it also exposed areas that need refining. Despite struggling with his cardio and missing weight, he showed heart by fighting through fatigue and adversity, ultimately forcing a finish late in the contest.

Vidal’s strengths lie in his physical power, strong clinch control, and heavy top pressure once the fight hits the mat. When he establishes position, his ground and pound can be punishing. However, he tends to move in straight lines, making him predictable, and his takedown defence remains a work in progress. The key for Vidal will be pacing himself and tightening his wrestling entries to make the most of his raw strength and grit.

Levi Rodrigues: The Baby Monster from Brazil
Levi “Baby Monster” Rodrigues (5-0), aged 28, enters as the younger, more explosive fighter. The Brazilian has shown a clear taste for violence, using chopping leg kicks and powerful hands to end fights abruptly. He thrives in chaotic exchanges, willing to bite down on the mouthpiece and swing with intent. Rodrigues has also competed in boxing and kickboxing, and that striking experience shows in his confidence and timing when he lets his hands go.

That said, Rodrigues’ aggression can get the better of him. He throws wide punches, leaves himself open to counters, and can be taken down when pressured. His takedown defence and ability to fight off his back are still developing. If his opponent can force him backwards, his output drops, but when he dictates the pace and gets his rhythm going, his power makes him a serious threat.

Freddy Vidal vs Levi Rodrigues prediction
This matchup should deliver plenty of action between two raw but dangerous prospects. Vidal will likely look to lean on his grappling and clinch work to avoid extended exchanges with the more powerful Rodrigues. If he can maintain top control and conserve his energy, there’s a path to victory through grinding pressure and positional dominance.

However, Rodrigues appears to have the sharper tools on the feet and the more explosive striking pedigree. He’s faster, younger, and hits harder, which could make the difference early. Vidal’s physicality may trouble him if the fight drags on, but Rodrigues’ experience in striking disciplines and finishing instinct should allow him to seize the momentum once he finds his range.

Prediction: Levi Rodrigues to win
