What is The Women's Premier League?
The WPL is the long-awaited women's version of the Indian Premier League. The competition has been formed by the BCCI, who have sold five franchise teams for a combined total of £465m. Following the sale of television rights both domestically and internationally, it is already the second most lucrative T20 franchise league in the world behind the IPL.
What is the format of the Women's Premier League?
The WPL will take on a league format with each franchise playing each other twice at one of two Mumbai-based venues, the Brabourne Stadium and DY Patil Stadium. At the end of the league stage, the team topping the table will compete in the final on March 26th against the winners of the eliminator, which is contested by the second and third-placed franchises on March 24th.

Which players are competing for which team?
As was the case in the first ever IPL, the inaugural WPL squads were determined by a player auction. Such an auction was unprecedented in the women's game and saw players sold for figures never seen before in women's cricket, such as Smriti Mandhana (Rs. 3.4 crore), Natalie Sciver-Brunt (Rs. 3.2 crore), Ashleigh Gardner (Rs. 3.2 crore) and Jemimah Rodrigues (Rs. 2.2 crore).

When is the Women's Premier League taking place?
The 2023 WPL begins on March 4th and runs up until the final of March 26th.
